It is the premier resort/restaurant at theBay Point overlooking somethiing as amazingly historical as Gun Lake. This romantic diner was voted “Best Restaurant in Michigan in 2005″ while the resort also garnered the vote in 2005 as “One of Michigan’s Top Resorts”. Though it may seem a bit pricey, the ambience is worth it when you’re with a partner and you’d like to make memories for a lifetime. Though, the restaurant offers casual dining, it does have almost all the best type of international cuisine but their steaks are reputed to be the best.

If your taste preference and that of your partner is Italian or French, enjoy your romance in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor and pick The Earle Restaurant. Current Magazine poll readers have voted for this restaurant as the “Most Romantic/Elegant Restaurant” from 1999-2008. This is reputed to be the diner where lovers enjoy their meals plus each other. It was also voted by Current Magazine as having the “Best Wine List” – a MUST for those in love and it rates A-1 for interior design.

The Earle Restaurant has a sister restaurant called The Earle Uptown located at the Bell Tower Hotel which is a bit more expensive but features the best of French appetizers and entrees plus the best wine list. The Detroit Free Press named this restaurant “The Best French Restaurant in Detroit” and it is reognized by the AAA by giving it the “AAA Four Diamond Award”.

If you wish to go all-American, be it in love, then welcome to The Whitney. Some call it Detroit’s most romantic restaurant because it does have a 115 year old history. It was an old 115 room mansion turned into a diner accented by delicate wood carvings and the most picturesque stained glass windows. Food is fit for a king and queen particularly their Losbter Bisque. “Old Detrioter” (Natural Beef Rib Eye with Maple Syrup and glazed baby carrots) plus they also offer the best Vegetarian food. If ones idea of a romance however is love plus adventure, there’s the “Whitney Haunted Dinner” scheduled on every Friday which falls on the 13th of the month which is a three course meal – Ceasar Salad, Sauteed Breast Chicken and Beef tenderloin and the Whitney Carrot Cake and Chocolate Mousse to sweetly cap the whole romantic meal.

Something more luxurious would be the Tribute Restaurant located in Farmington Hills. The Tribute is known the attention it gives to detail from the restaurant interior to its menu

If not overrated, would they still be tourist attractions at all? Like every must see city in the world, there are token icons in Paris that are a must during a visit. At least for the first visit anyway.

Paris is home to several iconic tourist attractions that are known world wide. Possibly the most famous of all would definitely be the Eiffel Tower. When we think of France, often an image of the breath-taking phallic symbol is planted firmly in our minds, and why not? It is as startling and unique to behold as you expect it to be. And we simply cannot stop at just seeing the tower once. We need to see it at different times of the day. The Eiffel Tower during the day. The Eiffel Tower at night. Yes, this is certainly the most famous tourist attraction in all of Paris, but that does not necessarily mean it is over rated. Of course for some, a large tower that holds no real purpose might be a disappointment, but for most, it will live up to expectation.

Thanks to the recent fame of Dan Brown’s novel The Da Vinci Code, the Louvre museum has shot to massive popularity. This museum, which is home to some of the worlds most famous paintings was already popular prior to the book, but now so many tourists are flocking there just to see for themselves the amazing glass pyramid. I have certainly heard on more than one occasion that the Louvre’s glass pyramid is by far one of the most overrated tourist attractions of all time, and that instead it is a disappointment that such a project was even allowed in the city of romance. However, for others, this dome is truly remarkable and much worth the visit, as is the massive museum that would take days to truly explore in detail.

Paris is full of art galleries and museums. To some, the thought of spending days exploring the masterpieces and history of these places is very appealing, but to others, the whole concept is very overrated and downright boring.

There is also the Notre Dame Cathedral. This cathedral is among the most famous in the world and another of the must-see tourist stops. But does it really deliver? The cathedral offers remarkable gothic architecture and design, but compared to cathedrals in other parts of the world, it really does not measure up quite so well.

So yes, Paris is filled with overrated tourist attractions, but usually an attraction is overrated for a reason. For every person who finds them unsatisfactory, its quite likely there will be another ten who were completely spellbound. There are overrated tourist attractions in every country, but not taking the time to see them leaves your journey to these cities incomplete. So do the tourist thing, kiss under the Eiffel Tower, take photos outside the Louvre and marvel at the Notre Dame architecture. Its okay to enjoy them, even if they are overrated.

If you don’t dine in at least one or two Mexican restaurants when visiting Albuquerque well, then you haven’t been to Albuquerque. The real question is how to narrow the many excellent choices down. Here are a few to start with and on your next trip you can try some more.

El Pinto, 10500 4th NW, Ph. 505.898.1771. Started in 1962, El Pinto has long been described as “being the flavor of New Mexico.” Their red and green chile cuisine features everything from carne adovada to enchiladas. Each meal starts with award-winning salsa. El Pinto’s reputation has spread so far that even President Bush and Mick Jagger have dined there (not together). Dining is available in the shaded patio (considered the best patio dining in the city), in private romantic nooks, or in the main dining room. Mon-Thurs 11am-9pm; Fri-Sat 11am-10pm; Sunday 10:30am-9pm (Sunday brunch 10:30a.m-2pm.

Cervantes Restaurant & Lounge, 5801 Gibson Blvd SE, Ph. 505.262.2253. Consistently ranked as a favorite by visitors, Cervantes is known as being a family restaurant with great homemade cuisine. The green chile stew with cheese and onions, soppas, chile rellenos, very hot red chile sauce, margaritas by the pitcher, and the jukebox all rate high marks. The only negative is that the parking lot can be dangerous after dark, so be careful.

Padilla’s Mexican Kitchen, 1510 Girard Blvd NE. Ph. 505.262. 0115. Padilla’s is so good and its reputation so wide-spread that customers line up at door at 11 to be the first in for lunch. Listed as one of the top 50 Hispanic restaurants in America in Hispanic Magazine, Padilla’s is one of the most popular restaurants in Albuquerque. It’s not the dcor that brings people in; in fact it’s rather sparsely decorated. It’s not the location as patrons often have to park on side streets. It’s the Food! Patrons will tell you that this is not Mexican food, but New Mexican cuisine there is a difference. Starting with the homemade salsa and gigantic fresh corn chips, every meal is a delight.

Choose from daily specials such as Carne Adovada, Carnitas, or Papas and Quelites. Upgrade a la carte specials to dinners and you’ll receive two of the lightest sopaipillas anywhere. The freshly-made tacos are so delicious that you need to order at least two to last long enough to make a memory. The blue corn cheese enchiladas are another raved about item. Padilla’s has a rather small dining room but loyal fans like it that way they’re afraid expansion may

Ist hier das Menu.

No you are not entering a restaurant in Munich but rather New York City. Sauerbraten, sausage and spaetzle are just some of the choices you can have in an authentic German restaurant, where October Fest is an observed 365 days a year celebration only in New York. Portions are typically enormous in the German cuisine family style. The items on the menu seem endless with beer, predictably, being the preferred beverage, with German brands on tap.

During the height of immigration from Europe during the 1920s, neighborhoods developed into small portions of homeland. For the Germans this was no exception. They migrated to an area known as Yorkville, previously known as Germantown, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side from 1st to Lexington Avenues between 80th to 90th Streets.

Neighborhoods have evolved and Germantown with the many bakeries and restaurants no long exists as extensive as it once was; giving way to massive high rise doorman residential buildings, expensive bistros and Starbucks on every corner. To find truly wonderful authentic German cuisine, the options are becoming slim in Manhattan and are more favorable for an authentic German restaurant within the outer boroughs.

Only one restaurant did cling to their original roots of Germantown and that is The Heidelberg, originating in 1936. Although relativity revamped in 1964, it maintains the old world charm, of a bygone era and leaves to the imagination of dining in Germany. Be prepared to come on an empty stomach and make reservations. They have the best potato pancakes in town, while the staff dresses in traditional German garb.

]]>
What you see – Right along the chaotic Lakdi-ka-Pul junction is The Hampshire Plaza hotel. The huge lobby leads to a corridor to the restaurant – Bombay Palace. The door resembles that of a palatial chamber. Inside is the small restaurant which has a Mughlai feel to it. The walls have images of Bombay as it was in the earlier years. You are greeted with pictures of the Victoria Terminus, The Gateway of India, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Building. There is a deep sense of nostalgia attached to it. It is really like a slice of Bombay in Hyderabad.

Bombay Palace is a famous international chain of restaurants serving Indian food in New York, Kuala Lumpur, Budapest, Toronto and London. The uniqueness of cuisine here lies in its adaptation to tastes of the local people. The place, therefore, mainly serves Mughlai cuisine with special Hyderabadi and Andhra dishes.

What you get – The restaurant has a very elaborate wine list. In fact, even water is served in long stemmed wine glasses. On the menu are a delectable selection of Kebabs from Shikampur to Sheek and a very good selection of Tandoori seafood thrown in. Even the roasted Papads are very tangy and tasty.

In the vegetarian starters there is a unique selection of Chaat dishes such as Ragda Patties (an ode to the iconic Chowpatty Chaat) to choose from along with other popular ones like Paneer Tikka, Aloo Wraps etc. The platter is the best choice if you want to savor the taste of all that is on offer.

Coming to the main course there is a very wide range of Biryanis. The traditional Hyderabadi Biryani is prepared in three different styles! Must-try is the aromatic Nizami Prawn Biryani. Then there is the traditional Mughlai fare which includes Murgh Makkhanwala, Kadhai Murgh and seafood like Fish Amritsari with cream.

Our verdict – For a unique experience as far as Hyderabadi Biryani is concerned go to Bombay Palace (sounds paradoxical but it’s true). The seafood is indeed one of the best in the city and the service is quite good. The restaurant staff is very courteous and makes efforts to make the guest feel at ease. For a good experience try the white wines with white meats and the red wine with the red meats.

The ambience complements the food very well with light music playing in the background. Valet parking is available. The place is currently open only for dinner and in the day is available for large or party bookings with special packages on offer.

What you pay for a meal for two – Rs. 650 (without wines)

Start the weekend with a glass of wine and dinner at Butlers Wharf Chop House and enjoy its spectacular views over the Thames, the Gherkin and Tower Bridge. If you fancy a few drinks in an authentic London pub, head to Prospect of Whitby one of London’s oldest pubs. Join past drinkers such as Charles Dickens and Samuel Pepys (maybe he was drinking here whist London was burning in 1666) and order a pint of cold beer. Then join London’s trendy fashion set at Mayfair bar Funkybuddha and dance the night away to some great RnB. The perfect introduction to London.

Saturday

Start with a trip to the London Eye for amazing views over the city. You can see all the famous landmarks including Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral and The Houses of Parliament. Then watch the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace before wondering around its grand halls soaking in the royal history. Afterwards, hop into one of those famous London cabs and go shopping in swanky department store Harrods. Spoil yourself or your friends with some exclusive luxury items. Have a cosy dinner at Cafe des Amis in Convent Garden (the prix fixe menu will let you eat for under £20) before catching a show at London’s glittering west end.

Saturday Night

London is the party capital and there are hundreds of bars, pubs and clubs to choose from. Start the night off at Lost Society in Clapham and explore themed rooms including the library bar, black and white room and secret garden. Go to the American Bar in the Savoy Hotel which dates back to the nineteenth century and listen to the live jazz band. Move onto No 5 in Cavendish Square or Embassy London in Mayfair for some cocktails and celeb spotting. For a more up-tempo night head down to super clubs Ministry of Sound and Pacha for some of the best club experiences in Europe. You’ll be dancing well into the night.

Sunday

Nurse that hangover with a Full English Breakfast at the New Piccadilly Cafe in Piccadilly Circus. The Cafe still retains an authentic Soho 1950’s feel with original decor and menus. Afterwards take the morning easy with a wander through Camden market and pick up some vintage clothes and jewellery. No trip to London would be complete without High Tea at the Ritz where you can sample the many teas, delicate sandwiches and cakes on offer. Next it’s off to the National Gallery where you can take in famous paintings like Van Gough’s Sunflowers and Monet’s The Water Lilly Pond. Finish the weekend off by getting some fish and chips and watch the sun go down over the Thames.

Does London swing? Probably, but I can definitely say, “it rocks”.

London is number 6 on my list of top 10 BEST places to visit in the World!
