London is the capital of the uk and a very popular tourist destination. in fact, it is home to great uk landmarks like Big Ben, the Tower of London and the Globe Theatre.

Throughout world war 2, German bombs killed over 30,000 Londoners and destroyed numerous houses and other buildings across London. This wasn’t to be the last time that London would be hit by bombs.
In actual fact, irish republican army bombers disrupted the city with bomb threats- and actual bombs- for numerous years until their ceasefire in 1997. recently, the city was struck by a series of bomb attacks in 2005, which were carried out by islamic extremist suicide bombers on the city’s transport network on 7th july.
London is well-known for its great museums & art galleries. One of the best known museums is the v and a, which was constructed in 1852. it’s the world’s biggest museum of decorative arts and design with a permanent collection of more than 4 and a half million pieces. nowadays, the museum covers a huge 12 and a half acres & 145 galleries. it’s a huge tourist attraction &, in 2006, it had 2,400,000 visitors.
London is famous for its shopping, which means that you’ll find everything from quirky independent stores& markets, to designer stores.
One of the city’s most famous stores is Selfridges, which is located on Oxford street. It was initially opened in 1909 by Harry Selfridge, who wanted to make shopping fun rather than a chore. He succeeded & the shop now boasts 4 other branches in various cities throughout england.
London boasts exciting shopping, which we are sure that everyone will find fantastic. From exciting eateries, to exclusive clubs & wine bars, there’s something for everyone in London.
One of the most famous clubs is the Embassy, which is a private members club on Old Burlington street. The night club is pretty expensive, but it’s full of celebrities & exciting for star spotting. in addition to this, it serves exciting food by michelin starred Garry Hollihead.
There’s 1000s of hotels, guest houses & bed & breakfasts in London, so there’s accommodation to suit any pocket. From renowned names including the Hilton, the Dorchester & the Marriot, to cheap hostels, there’s things for everyone to enjoy.
