London suffered especially when the second world war. It suffered severe damage from bombs when this time & multiple of 1000s of children in the city were evacuated out to the country side to avoid the bombs. The most severe bombing occured between 7 September 1940 & 10 May 1941.
London is well-known for its amazing museums & galleries. One of the most well-known museums is the v and a, which was established in 1852. it’s the world’s largest museum of art & design with a permanent exhibition of over 4 1/2 million pieces. nowadays, the museum covers a huge 12 1/2 acres & 145 art galleries. it’s a huge tourist attraction &, in 2006, it received 2,400,000 visitors.
The shops in london are some of the best in the world. From designer outlets to independent outlets, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this massive city.
One of London’s most famous stores is Hamleys, a massive toy shop on Regent Street. its a huge tourist attraction & receives five million visitors each year, many of these people visit at christmas. with an impressive 7 floors, the toy shop caters for all of us, from toddlers and babies to adults!
London has fabulous nightlife, which we’re sure that all of us will find great. From fabulous eateries, to exclusive nightclubs & bars, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in London.
One of the most well known nightclubs is the Embassy, which is a members club on Old Burlington st. The nightclub is relatively pricey, but it’s full of celebrities & fabulous for star spotting. in addition to this, it serves fabulous food by michelin award winner Garry Hollihead.
Because it is such a huge location, London is really simple to get to. in actual fact, it is well connected by rail & has some large train stations, which contain London Bridge, London Victoria, London Euston & Liverpool st. as well as this, the city also has three massive airports, Heathrow; Stanstead & Luton.
Driving in London can be hard because of the congestion charge, although the city has a exciting underground & bus network to help people get about.
